Objective of the Project

The Thomayer Hospital Trauma Centre together with Kolečko Endowment Fund partner is planning to extend the activities of child injury prevention in the catchment area in order to contribute by all means to the prevention and minimization of consequences of child injury in the relevant geographic area. The objective of the sub-project is: 1) Creating and implementing specific educational events and programmes aimed at the most common causes of injuries, 2) Optimizing and securing the first treatment of trauma through creating and implementing specific seminars and 3) Reducing morbidity and mortality of child injury and minimizing its consequences in the social sphere. The project objectives will be achieved through three substantive activities and one control activity, under which prevention units will be created to implement the primary prevention activities (educational activities and lectures, mobile internet applications) and the secondary prevention activities (working with doctors and other medical personnel from the catchment area to optimize the primary treatment of injuries). The tertiary prevention will be strengthened by the purchase and application of new technologies, transfer of know-how and enhancing skills of Trauma Centre staff. The sub-project output will be the implementation of two new primary and secondary prevention programmes, which will involve about 2,600 children aged 6-10 years, 600 parents of the children under 6 years of age, about 75 people from medical personnel, an interactive web page with the theme of primary prevention for children, an e-learning course for professional staff of medical facilities of the catchment area, the purchased instrumentation, transfer of know-how from leading clinics in Norway and enhanced qualifications of the Trauma Centre personnel. Both the applicant and the partner have sufficient staffing capacity and facilities for the implementation of the sub-project and are fully prepared for it.
