Project Description:

The project aims at improvied services for prisoners through the introduction of intervention programmes which may ultimately lead to a released prisoner being successfully reintegrated into society, which may at the same time result in a reduction in the rate of recidivism in the Czech Republic.

The project of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic will be conducted in cooperation with experienced Norwegian partners - University College of Norwegian Correctional Service (KRUS), Bastøy Prison, Ila Prison and detention facility and Norwegian Correctional Service - Region South. The Probation and Mediation Service of the Czech Republic is the Czech partner institution of the project.

Key activities:

  • The Motivation Programme – the objective is to increase motivation of prisoners towards participation in intervention programmes decreasing the risk of their relapse. The programme shall motivate the sentenced persons to take part in specialised treatment/intervention programmes.
  • Professional Care for Drug Users – is the objective is the stabilization of drug users in the period after the admission to prison, the improvement of their health condition, the commencement of follow-up care in the community, the protection of public health, and a decreased relapse rate.
  • Fathers’ Programme for those who need support of their family relationships. The goal is the efficient work with the family, focused on promoting parental rights and responsibilities, support of a positive relationship and the role of the parent at the period of his imprisonment.
