Project description

The main aim of the project is to raise awareness on the topic of combating and preventing new forms of gender-based violence, especially in the online space, which mainly affect young people to a high degree. The project wants to point out the fact that the online and offline worlds are not two separate, non-interacting entities, but are interconnected.

As part of the project, two awareness campaigns will be implemented, one of which will take place online and the other offline in several cities (e.g. Brno, Prague, Olomouc, Ostrava or Jihlava). These campaigns will be focused on informing about new forms of gender-based violence, especially in the online space: stalking, cyberbullying, slutshaming, bodyshaming, revenge porn and others. Their primary target group will be young people between the ages of 12 and 25, while the secondary target group will be the wider public.

For young people, the online environment is a place where they not only establish but also maintain relationships. At the same time, it is also a place where various forms of violence take place (cyberbullying, stalking, bodyshaming...). If young people are well-oriented in this environment and have enough information and competence to be able to react adequately, many negative phenomena can be prevented or effectively solved. Even in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the online space has become a place of self-realization for many, where they spend a large amount of time and is inextricably linked to their real lives. Therefore, this project, aimed at preventing violence on social networks and in the online environment, can provide the necessary information/competence for young people to be able to prevent problematic situations, to be able to recognize them in time and seek help if necessary. Young people belonging to the project's target group will also be actively involved in the preparation and implementation of the online campaign. Their involvement is essential, the campaign will be based primarily on their experiences and real needs.

As part of the offline campaign, four public events will be held, where the mentioned issue will be presented and the activities of the implementer in this area will be presented. Participants will be able to discuss topics related to gender-based violence and new media. The offline campaign will be supported by the implementation of eight workshops at primary and/or secondary schools. At the same time, advocacy activities will take place, during which young people, with the help of mentoring from an experienced organization, will implement lobbying activities. The following outputs will be created as part of the campaign: networking and education of representatives of the target group, professional consultations and support for active representatives of the target group, specific educational and activation content on social networks.
