Project description:

The aim of the project is to improve the situation of the Roma and other residents of the Janov housing estate, to activate them, especially in the sense of involving them in solving local and personal problems and harmonizing neighbourhood relations.

The intention of the project is to activate the residents, especially the Roma people, to develop their competences and knowledge as a prerequisite for their full participation in society and their participation in public affairs. The project will establish a Roma platform for the Most region, which will help to better promote the interests of Roma people and defend their rights.

The project also aims to develop the civic competences of the target group and to create a core group in the locality. The core group will become a key community resource, an entity for achieving positive change in the locality.

The implementation of the project will connect several Roma and pro-Roma organisations and deepen cooperation with the city of Litvínov. An important outcome is the creation of a strategic base in the locality in the form of the Libuše Neighbourhood House. The Neighbourhood House will serve as a place for safe leisure time, facilities for community activities, meetings and informal leisure time between the majority and the minority.

The project will help improve the media image of Roma people in the Czech Republic, their inclusion and their empowerment and participation in solving local problems.
