Applications in programme Culture were submitted for evaluation in April 2020. After several months, the selection process draws to an end. We bring updated information about its proceeding and planned publication of results.

Overall, applicants submitted 245 applications in 4 open calls. The area of revitalization of cultural heritage appealed to most of the applicants (135 applications), followed by the area of contemporary arts (74 applications). Newly supported areas, such as Art and Cultural Criticism received 13 applications and 23 applications were received from the area of Capacity Building of Umbrella Associations, Networks and Platforms.

Evaluation process of each open call started with the formal and eligibility assessment. With regards to the situation caused by the pandemic, applicants were allowed to complete missing materials for longer period resulting in longer process (1-3 month-long (based on the number of submitted applications). Thanks to this extension, 96% of submitted applications proceeded into the next evaluation phase.

Applications were further evaluated in terms of their quality (based on criteria specified in the call text) by experts selected in an open call or directly contracted by the Ministry of Culture and the Arts and Theatre Institute. In total, 90 experts participated in the quality evaluation and all reports have been delivered.

Selection committees for open calls Art and Cultural Criticism, Capacity Building of Umbrella Associations, Networks and Platforms and Contemporary Arts were held in the second half of August 2020. Representatives of donor states participated in the meetings as observers. The last selection committee assessing the applications in revitalization of cultural heritage shall meet during October 2020.

After the quality evaluation, the Ministry of Finance assisted by an independent external entity verifies the evaluation process and individual applications recommended by the selection committee for support. Based on the number of submitted applications and applications recommended for support the length of this process may vary.

During the verification, applicants whose applications were recommended by the selection committee for support, are informed about the next steps in (by letter) and subsequently invited to accept conditions for a grant approval. Applicants, whose applications are recommended on the reserve list, receive information in IS CEDR. Based on the results of the verification of recommended applications, applicants will be informed about the final result. Other applicants are informed about the continuing verification process in IS CEDR and when concluded, they receive legal act on non-awarding the grant.

With assumption, the verification confirms the manner and results of the evaluation process; the preliminary results will be published on www.eeagrants.cz/en. Important note: Due to the continuing verification process of recommended applications for support, these results are preliminary and may change including the grant size (resulting from conditions set by the selection committee including budget cuts, conditions of applied state aid regime or other suggested changes). Final results will be published on www.eeagrants.cz/en after the verification process is concluded as a whole. Applicants will be notified via IS CEDR and data box. Information about the evaluation of individual applications will not be available.
