Project description:

The project is to expand the existing podcast called ‘The Wise Fool’. The podcast is working to ‘learn how the contemporary visual art world works, one conversation at a time.’ We have partnered with Hunt Kastner Gallery in Prague and Kunstsentrene i Norge (KiN) in Norway in order to coordinate at least 25 free public panel discussions and 60 one-on-one conversations in the Czech Republic, Iceland, and Norway over 18 months. The conversations will be recorded and be made available to the world for free through the podcast.

We will travel around the Czech Republic, Iceland, and Norway coordinating and recording free public panel discussions and individual conversations about topics that are relevant and critical to the regions. Some of the critical topics might include; Identity, Funding, Commercialization, climate change, ecology, censorship, Loss, Desire, Humor, street art, Power, why people should buy art, the need for institutions, art schools, and how to collect art. The partners will assist in this process by using their knowledge of their communities and their networks to coordinate the appropriate guests and locations to do live recordings. The local audiences will be encouraged to ask questions and participate in the discussions.

The podcasts will be available worldwide and will encourage larger critical dialogue and cultural entrepreneurship through a sharing of knowledge, expertise, and experiences. While enhancing the cultural cooperation between the partner countries and creating new networks worldwide. The intention of these individual conversations, free public critical panel discussions and the subsequent podcasts will be to offer the public direct insight into the contemporary visual art professionals, art world, art criticism. This will be accomplished through a critical dialogue about the values, roles, and responsibilities of the contemporary visual art market.
