The project implementer, Krajská zdravotní, a.s. The Perinatal Centres provide the highest level of comprehensive care for the most severe cases occurring during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period, both for the mother and also the fetus or newborn. The Centres are ranked among the best medical facilities in the field of perinatal medicine due to their specialism and emphasis on the medical expertise of their employees. The main output of the project is the development of secondary and tertiary prevention aimed at reducing consequences of the illness, injuries and health problems in childhood through the follow-up dispensary care in Perinatal Centres. The project subject matter and the specific focus of its activity is primarily the purchase of specialized equipment that will make possible a number of organ system examinations in high-risk newborns. This step will create optimal conditions for adequate outpatient care in newborns with very low to extremely low birth weight and in newborns, which after the birth had to undergo the resuscitation-intensive care due to health serious causes. Currently, it is necessary to upgrade the already obsolete or missing instrumentation so that the applicant could provide relevant patients with the best available methods of diagnosis and treatment that will be in accordance with the requirements of the highest possible quality of care in specialized Perinatal Centres. Another subject matter of the project and an integral activity of the project is the education of medical staff in the field of long-term monitoring of high-risk newborns. This activity will improve the overall prognostic of risk infants and improve conditions for the early and accurate diagnosis of disorders of child development. The project includes a creation and implementation of the preventive dispensary care programme. During the supplies of equipment and staff training the secondary and tertiary prevention programmes will also be started. Particularly, it will be introduced the examination in the field of the pathology of the head, abdominal and chest cavities, examination of the eye, ENT and oral examinations. At the same time, the programmes will be implemented and the Dispensary Care Centre activities will start under the coordination of individual expert activities to detect timely health problems and begin early treatment. Within the programmes there will be a series of lectures for the general and professional public (secondary schools, children and adolescents, medical personnel involved in non-medical disciplines).
