Objective of the Project

The applicant, the state subsidised organisation Valašské muzeum v přírodě v Rožnově pod Radhoštěm (hereinafter referred to as VMP), aims to use the project to build a comprehensive exhibition of its unique textile collection focussing on the issue of folk costumes and textiles in Moravian Wallachia, comprising 30,000 items. Because there is no suitable space in the VMP, the complete textile collection could not be presented in a dignified manner. Only thematic items and pieces were used during the realisation of specialised VMP programmes, or, were previously (during the 1980s) loaned to museums for short-term thematic exhibitions. The reconstruction of the so-called “Sušák” building will create a suitable space to install the exhibition. The exhibition is intended to reinforce the mission of the VMP and to disseminate information about the lifestyle of our ancestors, with a particular focus on the Wallachia region and its surroundings. The VMP intends to organise the exhibition in such a way that it is informative, educational and provides active learning, using state-of-the-art information and communication technologies and new trends and ensuring that it meets the conditions for the protection and archiving of the exhibited artefacts, which are part of our cultural heritage.
