Among the rare diseases are those diseases that occur to fewer than 500 persons
per 1 million inhabitants. Although the disease occurs very rarely, it is necessary
to ensure sufficient knowledge among general practitioners and specialists,
which leads to early detection of these diseases and transfer of the patient to
specialist care.

Supported projects seek to improve comprehensive care for people with rare
diseases by introducing the latest methods of diagnosis, care centralisation for
these patients and increasing the awareness of professionals and the general
public, including persons involved in caring for children with a severe diagnosis of
a rare disease.
